Jeff Mermelstein “About”:

After completing an internship in photography in 1981 at The International Center of Photography in New York, Jeff Mermelstein began a career that has combined personal photographs with assignment work for major publications including Life Magazine, The New Yorker, and The New York Times Magazine. Portfolios and photographs have also been published in Aperture, Double Take, and Artforum.

In 1991, Jeff Mermelstein received the Aaron Siskind Foundation Individual Photographer’s Fellowship. In 1999 he won the European Publishers Award for Photography, which resulted in the publication of his first book SideWalk (Dewi Lewis Publishing, 1999). Other books that include his work are Bystander: A History of Street Photography (Bulfinch, 2001) by Colin Westerbeck and Joel Meyerowitz, Time Frames: The Story of Photography (Amphoto Art, 1998) by Ian Jeffrey, and Love and Desire: Photoworks (Chronicle, 1999) by William A. Ewing. His advertising clients include AT&T Wireless, Commes des Garcons, Intel, Samsung, Red Stripe, Clarks Shoes and Hewlett Packard.
